Useful Guidelines for Dry Skin Care in Summer

Summer has quickly come upon us and you might have started to realize that the skin on your arms and legs and perhaps your feet is definitely not ready to face the public. Not to worry! Transforming the rough skin on your arms, legs, and feet the result of extreme moisture loss during the long, cold winter months can be achieved with this complete regimen.

The three parts of the summer regimen will focus on prepping the skin, pampering of the skin and protecting the skin but today our focus will remain on PREP. There are few basic things that should be done to prep your skin for the upcoming summer months.
Dry Skin Care Tips for Summer

    * The sun is hottest around noon. If you limit your tanning time to before 11:00 a.m. and after 2:00, you’ll have more chance of getting a tan instead of a burn. Nothing causes dry skin faster than sunburn.
    * Choose a sunscreen with as few chemicals as possible. Studies have shown that some of the chemicals in sunscreens can actually cause you to burn especially when they’re slathered on over and over. Scientists also suspect that traditional, chemical-laden sunscreens could cause skin cancer. A natural dry skin care treatment with sunscreen added is best; it does double duty helps prevent dry skin while also protecting your skin from the sun.
    * Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Dry skin care has internal and external elements; fresh fruits and vegetables are about the best internal treatment you can get. It’s also best to choose organic produce. Pesticides and other chemicals tend to dehydrate the body the last thing you need when you’re also spending time in the drying sun.
    * Rinse off quickly when you’ve been swimming especially if you’re in the ocean or a swimming pool. The salt in the ocean is drying, as is the chlorine in the pool.
    * Take short showers using lukewarm water. Long, hot showers cause dry skin. This is important for dry skin care throughout the year.
    * Exfoliate once a week. Slough off those dead skin cells using a natural, gentle exfoliant like almond meal and honey. Almonds are rich in skin-friendly vitamins like A, B1, B2, B6 and E. When almonds are ground into meal, they also retain a lot of the natural oils. Mix two tablespoons of almond meal with one tablespoon of honey, smooth onto your skin and leave for 5 or 10 minutes. Then rub it in thoroughly, and wash off gently. Do this once a week for smooth, vibrant skin.
    * For pretty feet in sandals, you can also use the almond-honey exfoliant. Scrub your feet all over, paying special attention to your heels, and they’ll smooth right out. Again, once a week should be enough. If you need something a little more aggressive the first time you work on your feet, try a pumice stone.
    * Wear as little makeup as possible, and try to use a natural brand. Get it at the health food store – most of the products in supermarkets or drug stores have some natural ingredients, but they contain harsh, drying chemicals as well.
    * Always wear a natural lotion for dry skin. Choose a non-greasy product that doesn’t block the pores.

Easy and Simple Ways to Protect Your Oily Skin Care: Useful Remedies

Oily skin generally appears shiny, has rough pores and is prone to pimples, blackheads and blemishes. In oily skin, the sebaceous glands produce excess oil which oozes out through the pores of the skin giving it a shiny look. Oily skin could be due to heredity, hormone levels, diet, pregnancy, humidity, or due to the kind of cosmetics used. The excess oil secreted by the sebaceous glands is more during adolescence and decreases with age. But oily skin does not develop wrinkles or does not show signs of aging very early as in dry or normal skin types. With a little care, oily skin can appear naturally beautiful.

Useful Tips for Oily Skin Care

    * Firstly, before you try anything new, try a small patch test if you have sensitive skin. A reaction or eruption on your face would be unpleasant. No matter how safe you think a remedy is, first try it on your wrist or the inside of your elbow.
    * Before you apply any facial masques or oily skin treatments, make sure your skin is clean. Make it a point to use products meant for oily skin when cleansing too as many facial cleansers are oil based and will only add to the greasiness of your skin. Natural cleansers are again preferable.
    * Avoid using moisturizers or cold creams that are oil based.
    * To cleanse your face, use warm water and an appropriate cleanser. Wash off with cool water and pat dry your skin instead of rubbing it vigorously.
    * A facial masque prepared from oatmeal and honey is effective for oily skin. Make a paste using raw oatmeal, lemon juice and honey and apply it over your face. Be careful that it does not enter the eyes. Rinse it off after around ten minutes with warm water and pat dry your skin. This will keep your skin clean, smooth, and fresh, and rid of any greasiness.
    * You can also use a clay masque or use fuller’s earth mixed with water for a good facial masque to reduce oiliness. Leave it on for around twenty minutes before rinsing off.
    * Lemon juice, honey, and turmeric are some natural bleaches that are effective for removal of a tan and improvement of your complexion. Cucumber and potato juice also contain natural bleaching properties.
    * Yogurt and white radish are also effective natural bleaching agents.
    * Drink a lot of water as keeping your system well hydrated is believed to minimize dark circles.
    * Used tea bags can be refrigerated and placed over the eyes for around fifteen minutes daily.
    * A slice of raw potato or cucumber placed around the eyes is also believed to help.
